The Accommodation

Each of the 21 guest rooms are unique with attention to detail and customized furnishings. They all have high quality ceramics, wooden window frames, fine fabrics, objet d’art and elegant accessories. The rooms are located on the first, second and third floors accessed by a lift. 

There is the choice of Standard, Comfort or Superior room, all with air conditioning, WiFi, flat-screen satellite TV, en suite shower room with bathrobe, courtesy set and hairdryer, safe, telephone, minibar and balcony or window.

The Facilities

A rich breakfast with a selection of Sicilian produce is served on the hotel patio with a view of the splendid majolica and the arch of the old San Michele Church.

The 24 hour reception offers guests hotel and local information and can organise excursions and recommend restaurants for eating out.

The hotel can reserve deck chairs and parasols at the beach for guests where there is also a bar, restaurant and pizzeria.

The Local Area

Hotel San Michele is situated in Trapani old town, 550m from the main pedestrianised Corso Vittorio Emanuele, close to the Church of Santa Maria del Gesu, Palazzo della Giudecca and Palazzo Senatorio and 5 minutes walk from the harbour. 

The city of Trapani is the only major port in western Sicily and therefore has a past riddled with tales of invasion and conquest. During the last century, Trapani has had flourishing tuna fish and salt industries and today the province produces more wine than Chile.

The old town has attractive Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings and palazzi and the Museo Nazionale Pepoli, Cattedrale di San Lorenzo and the Palazzo Riccio di Morana are a few of the historical sites that are worth visiting, emphasising the city’s captivating past that is somewhat now hidden behind the more modern buildings that surround it.

The city is famous for its seafood and couscous and from Trapani there are ferries to visit the Egadi Islands as well as Pantelleria, Tunis and Cagliari in south Sardinia. 

There is a cable car from Trapani to visit the medieval walled mountain town of Erice 750m above sea level.

This hotel is in an excellent location in the heart of the old town and has been recreated from an old building into a boutique hotel yet keeping the original features.  The guest rooms are lovely, comfortable and have modern facilities. 

It is a perfect base for sightseeing in Trapani and being just 5 minutes from the port, enables guest to take a trip to the outlying islands.

Being right in the centre of Trapani, there are many good restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful in arranging excursions and recommending restaurants.

Car hire not necessary but if you are touring the island, there is a local car park available (extra cost).
