The Villa Accommodation

The accommodation is divided between two villas adjacent to each other, both overlooking the large swimming pool and furnished in contemporary style. There are a total of 9 air conditioned bedrooms, which can comfortably accommodate up to 18 people, 8 bath and/or shower rooms, 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms and a lounge. The villa also has a fitness area and a number of other amenities, such as computer work station, WiFi, satellite TVs, iPod docking station, washing machines, dishwasher and safe. 

Large Villa: (5 bedrooms)
Ground Floor: Living/dining room, kitchen, 2 double bedrooms with shower room, laundry room and terrace. 
First Floor: Living room, 1 double bedroom, 1 shower room and balcony.
Second Floor: 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 shower room and small terrace. 

Small Villa: (4 bedrooms)
Ground Floor (access from outside): 1 double bedroom with shower room, 1 twin/double bedroom with shower room and terrace.
First floor: Living/dining room with kitchenette, 1 double bedroom with shower room, 1 twin bedroom, 1 shower room and balcony. 

The villas are equipped with hairdryer, safe, computer, iron, iPod dock station, dishwasher, washing machine, CD player, DVD player, satellite TVs, cot, highchair and mosquito nets in the bedrooms. They are well-equipped for self catering, the kitchens having electric oven, fridge and freezer, gas and electric hob, ice machine, espresso coffee machine, microwave and toaster.

Services on request include domestic help (€15 per hour, minimum 2 hours), wine cellar with selection of wines, boat rental, beauty treatments (all extra cost).

The Garden & Facilities

The villas are surrounded by immaculate gardens with spacious, furnished panoramic terraces for relaxing and dining al fresco, from where there are enchanting views through to the sea.

Doors from the villas lead out onto dining terraces with barbecue, table and chairs and sofas for relaxing. There is an outside fitness area, 2 outside shower rooms, areas of lawn, large seawater swimming pool (15m x 8m, depth min 1.30m - max 2.30m, open from 01/04 to 31/10) with sun terrace, sun loungers, gazebo and outdoor shower.

The Local Area

Villa Maya is situated on the outskirts of Marina di Modica, a small seaside town between Sampieri and Pozzallo on the southern tip of Sicily. There is a large bay with sandy beach backed by sand dunes and there are shops and restaurants in the town, about 2km from the villa.

In July and August the quiet resort town comes to life with sports activities on the beach, market stalls on the promenade, live bands and folklore in the Piazetta, as well as numerous bars and discotheques. 

For further needs the town and harbour of Pozzallo is 6km away, a weekly market on Tuesdays in Scicli 15km, tennis courts 2km away, horse riding 26km, diving (Marzamemi) 40km and golf at Donnafugata 45km.

Marina di Modica is also a good base for exploring the local area including the 13km long limestone canyon Cava d`Ispica (22km) between Ispica and Modica which is a natural reserve with hazelnut, pomegranate and citrus trees, along with fragrant shrubs and oleander plus impressive prehistoric tombs and Christian catacombs. 

Also, it is possible to visit the baroque towns of Modica (22km), Scicli (20km), Ragusa Ibla (36km) and Noto (37km) and also places featured in the Montalbano TV series including Sampieri (10km), Punta Secca (40km) and Castello di Donnafugata (50km).

Modica is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sicily. It consists of two town centres, the older perched on the rocky top of the southern Iblei hill, the other rebuilt further downhill after the 1693 earthquake with imposing and conspicuous monuments such as the Cathedral of St George and the Church of St Peter.

Modica is a popular Sicilian town renowned for its diverse history, Baroque style buildings and chocolate! There is also the Museo Civico and a selection of cafe bars, restaurants and shops including some which sell a range of the dark, rich chocolate for which the town is renowned. Over the Easter visitors can enjoy several chocolate themed events such as chocolate massages and sculpture making.

Villa Maya has a total of 9 bedrooms, ideal for a large group or extended families for relaxing holiday by the sea in the privacy of your own villa with your own pool. However, it is possible just to book the large villa with 5 bedrooms.

With spacious accommodation and lovely gardens, guests will wish to relax and enjoy the surroundings with lovely sea views and there is a gate through to a rocky beach for those who would like to swim in the sea. 

Villa Maya is in a great location for not only enjoying the delights of the small town of Marine di Modica but also the baroque towns in the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site of south east Sicily. Car hire essential.
