The Accommodation

Lovingly restored by Chiaramonte family, the hotel features 12 panoramic guest rooms and suites arranged on the first and second floor, accessed with a lift.  They are all furnished in contemporary style and offer modern comforts including shower room, air conditioning, TV, telephone, safe, minibar/fridge (drinks on request extra cost) and hairdryer. The rooms with kitchenette include a coffee maker, fridge, sink, kitchen utensils, table and chairs.

The Facilities

Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast with local delicacies and a typical Sicilian dinner (with vegan or vegetarian options) using local seasonal produce and accompanied by very good local wines served in the Gramole restaurant.

There is a lovely long infinity swimming pool with panoramic sun terrace to relax and enjoy the far reaching views and sunsets over the surrounding olive groves and the beautiful valley of the Monti Iblei all the way to the sea. The wellness centre has a Turkish bath, sauna, emotional shower and relax area with massages available (all extra cost) plus a gym available each afternoon (3pm-8pm).

Tenuta Chiaramonte produces 4 different types of award winning olive oil milled on site from 16,000 olive trees and the oil is bottled just 300m away from the hotel and features on the restaurant menu. Harvest period is in September when guests can participate in olive picking.  Guests can also walk through the olive groves.

The Local Area

Situated on the Chiaramonte Estate surrounded by olive groves, the hotel is equidistant between Marina di Ragusa (12km) on the coast and Ragusa (13km) inland in the south east of Sicily.  The beautiful town of Ragusa is rich in Baroque architecture and part of the Val di Noto UNESCO Heritage site. Peppered across two sections of the town are 18 stunning architectural sites, drawing in art and history enthusiasts from all over the world. The Duomo di San Giorgio, Cathedral of San Giovanni and Church of Santa Maria dell'Itria are just a few of the sites to visit in this fascinating town.  

Scicli (14km) is an ancient town which grew up around two valleys divided by steep ridges and emerging onto a wider valley. It has many restored Baroque churches and palazzi, along with shops and restaurants. Scicli's showpieces are Palazzo Beneventano and Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo.

Relais Chiaramonte is a good base for exploring other UNESCO baroque towns of the Val di Noto including Modica (23km), Ispica (35km) and Noto (62km).

Along with Marina di Ragusa, there are also other beautiful beaches to explore at Donnalucata (15km), Sampieri (25km) and Punta Secca (18km). Donnafugata Castle is 22km and Pozzallo harbour 34km.

Opened in 2019 for vineyard stays with olive oil tours and tastings, this good value small boutique style agriturismo hotel and restaurant is planned around its outstanding countryside views from its location on a plateau, a short distance from Ragusa and Scicli and other UNESCO baroque towns in south east Sicily.

The stunning long infinity pool and panoramic terrace is perfect place to relax and soak up the wonderful views.

The guest rooms look over the hotel’s olive groves and carob trees all the way to the sea and on clear days you can see Malta across the straits and lights at night. The rooms are suitable for both couples and families.
