The Accommodation

Newly opened in 2021, Pietra d'Acqua features charming interiors that mix modern design with ancient stone and the guest rooms are a mix of refinement and functionality, tradition and innovative design and fusion with the surrounding nature. All the rooms have en suite shower room with bathroom products from the Geocharme line, air conditioning, WiFi, LCD LED 42" TV, safe, minibar and telephone.

Deluxe Room (20-25m², sleeping 2 adults + 1 infant) double room characterised by a modern and functional design that blends with the ancient stone of the structure and by an atmosphere that is elegantly merged with the surrounding nature. 

Deluxe Premiere Room (25m², sleeping 2 adults + 1 infant) double room with structural elements that make it particularly attractive and welcoming either with a private garden or with stone arches and walls.

Superior Room (26m², sleeping 2 adults + 1 infant) double room with traditional design elements, with the added charm of a large terrace overlooking the hotel garden and the sea of Sampieri. 

Executive Room (25-30m², sleeping up to 3 adults/2 adults + 1 child) double or triple room with refined and functional design, consisting of a bedroom with a double bed and 90cm sofa bed. 

Executive Premiere Room (38m², sleeping up to 3 adults/2 adults + 1 child) double or triple room with charm and space consisting of two rooms separated by an arch and stone walls with double bed and 90cm sofa bed. 

Suite (40m², sleeping up to 4 adults/2 adults + 2 children) spacious room suitable for 4 adults consisting of two rooms separated by a door providing a double bedroom and a living room with a double sofa bed. 

Pool Villa  (60m², sleeping up to 4 adults/2 adults + 2 children) villa with 2 bedrooms and private pool for privacy and sophistication within the resort consisting of two double or twin bedrooms each with shower room, separated by a living room with a glass door that opens onto a patio and infinity pool. 

The Restaurant & Bar

The Insula Restaurant is where guests can dine while appreciating the high quality of the cuisine enjoyed in the charming glass room overlooking the garden and pool.

Breakfast features a buffet of cheeses and cold cuts, seasonal fruit, freshly cooked eggs, selection of dried fruit, cereals, croissants and freshly baked cakes, fruit juices and organically grown honey. 

Dinner is served in the inner garden of Pietra d'Acqua in the glass room of the restaurant , where the bar is also located . At lunch guests can order from a light menu. 

The dishes offer local specialities made with creativity and with great attention to presentation by Chef Carmine Cardamone and his team. 

Some products come from the Geocharme Canalotto Organic Farm farm therefore zero kilometre including Nocellara extra virgin olive oil and olives, fresh fruit according to the season including oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits, mangoes and avocados, orange blossom and mango honey and orange & tangerine jam which can also be purchased online.

In the evening, the Bar is the ideal place for an aperitif surrounded by a relaxing atmosphere, before sitting down at the table to enjoy dinner. Similarly to the restaurant, the cocktails offered follow the logic of quality and territoriality.

The Facilities

The hotel has a garden which is a real oasis filled with greenery, palm trees and ornamental plants and where guests can relax by the splendid infinity pool (10x4m) overlooking the surrounding valley.  

The hotel is just 2km from Sampieri beach and also close to other beaches in the area including Marina di Modica (5km), Cava d'Aliga (9km), Donnalucata (15km), Santa Maria del Focallo (17km), Punta Ciriga (22km), Marina di Ragusa (26km), Punta Secca (33km).

The reception staff are available to book extra services such as beach spots at local lidos, excursions and naturalistic visits. 

Spa Hotel

The Spa is open every day and is equipped with a heated mini pool, Finnish sauna, Turkish bath and massage cabin (extra cost). It offers massages and rituals of well-being in a relaxing and softly lit environment.

The Local Area

Pietra d'Acqua is located in a unique location just 3km from Sampieri, a typical Sicilian fishing village in the Province of Ragusa in south east Sicily with a lovely beach, good restaurants, small supermarket and friendly locals. Fornace Penn in Punta Pisciotto dominates the Sampieri coastline and is the famous location named Mannara in the Inspector Montalbano TV series.

The hotel is located in a strategic position to discover the UNESCO Val di Noto, an area with splendid Baroque cities such as Scicli (12km), Modica (19km), Ragusa Ibla (32km) and Noto (39km). It is also close to other beaches in the area including Marina di Modica (5km), Cava d'Aliga (9km), Donnalucata (15km), Santa Maria del Focallo (17km), Punta Ciriga (22km), Marina di Ragusa (26km) and Punta Secca (33km). Pozzallo where ferries go to Malta (1hr45) is 8km away.

Vendicari Nature Reserve featuring lagoons, sand dunes, rocky coastline and sandy beaches is 40km on the east coast and at the southernmost point in Sicily, Portopalo di Capo Passero (43km) is an old fishing village with sandy beaches and reefs punctuated by little coves.

Scicli is 14km from the hotel and one of the UNESCO listed Baroque towns of south east Sicily, which grew up around two valleys divided by steep ridges and emerging onto a wider valley. It is rather off-the-beaten-track compared with its more visited neighbours but like the other Baroque towns, Scicli has had a lot of restoration particularly Piazza Italia and Via Mormina Penna lined with churches and palazzi. Scicli's showpieces are Palazzo Beneventano and Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo, well worth visiting. Via Penna, an elegant pedestrianised street is lined with Baroque palaces and churches, has cafe bars, restaurants, shops and there is a weekly market on Tuesdays.

The places of Inspector Montalbano TV series located around Pietra d'Acqua, born from the pen of Andrea Camilleri, include Ragusa Ibla, Donnafugata Castle and the Donnalucata, Pozzallo and Scoglitti ports, Marina di Ragusa, Comiso, Santa Croce Camerina and the opening shots in the series include the Guerrieri Viaduct in Modica.

Hotel Pietra d'Acqua is a typical Sicilian property recreated into a boutique style hotel set in lovely gardens in the countryside.

The hotel thinks about the wellbeing of the guests by offering experiences of relaxation with the lovely infinity pool overlooking the surrounding valley and the spa with small pool, sauna and Turkish bath.

The restaurant offers guests good local cuisine with the use of some organic products from the Canalotto Farm of the Geocharme group.

Car hire is highly recommended to explore the interesting local area with picturesque beaches and enchanting Baroque towns.
