The Accommodation

Built in 1873 with 71 guest rooms and suites arranged in two buildings and most of which feature a terrace or balcony with beautiful garden, sea or Mount Etna view. The Classic and Superior rooms are located in a separate building 50m from the main hotel building. Deluxe rooms, Junior Suites and Suites are in the main building with stunning sea views. 

All the rooms are equipped with satellite TV, writing desk, en suite bathroom, climate control air conditioning, WiFi and there is a twice daily housekeeping service. Room service is also available 24 hours a day which includes a selection of in-room spa treatments (extra cost).

There are a number of accommodation options from Classic double rooms to Exclusive Suites (ranging from 20m² to 60m²), each room elegantly decorated to the highest standard in a classic Italian style. Some suites have a stylish living area and there is a private outdoor jacuzzi in the stunning two bedroom panoramic Grand Hotel Timeo Suite (98m²).

The Restaurant & Bar

Ristorante Timeo is set on a spacious elegant terrace and offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a marvellous breakfast buffet and elegant candlelit dinner in a panoramic setting overlooking Capo Taormina with Mount Etna beyond. Each dish is prepared using locally sourced seasonal produce in an innovative Mediterranean style, offering modern yet authentic Sicilian cuisine with daily suggestions from the chef.

Otto Geleng Restaurant (1 Michelin Star) offers an intimate setting for dinner with baroque-inspired silver cutlery, locally crafted table linen and spectacular views. The Executive Chef, Roberto Toro, has created a menu that tells his story of Sicily including his signature dish Otto di Mare.

The Pool Grill is open for lunch (May to September) and offers a selection of freshly prepared light dishes. The Literary Terrace and Bar has a stunning panorama of Mount Etna and the Bay of Naxos, while inside the bar is a Sicilian masterpiece that evokes the magical atmosphere of a 19^th century winter garden.

The Facilities

The hotel is set on the hillside in 6 acres of immaculate park-like terraced gardens with a secluded heated swimming pool, poolside bar and Wellness Centre with a sauna, steam bath and there are also massage rooms and a hairdresser (extra cost).

A private complimentary shuttle links Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo with its sister hotel, Villa Sant'Andrea 5km away in Taormina Mare where guests are welcome to use the Children's Club (4- 12 years, May-October) and private beach on the bay of Mazzarò, where snorkellers can explore the caves and marine life whilst sunbathers can relax upon complimentary sunbeds near to the beachside restaurant and bar. Guests also can enjoy a complimentary daily boat tour (high season) and use the fitness centre with Technogym equipment and exercise machines.

The 24 hour front desk can look after your every need and book excursions to see more of the local area including The Ape Tour in Taormina, Tours of the Greek Theatre, helicopter tour, adventure tours of Mount Etna and trips along the Cyclopean Coast.

Taormina is on the north east coast of Sicily enjoying dramatic views across the Straits of Messina to the Italian mainland and also to Mount Etna. It is a very cosmopolitan town with excellent shops, designer boutiques, restaurants and café bars lining cobbled streets and alleys high above the picturesque beaches below.
