The Accommodation

The Ashbee Hotel is part of the Leading Hotels of the World. The 17 guest rooms and 7 elegant suites are situated in the main villa on the first and second floors serviced by a lift and in the villa annexe.

Furnished to a high standard, each room is different in decoration with beautiful paintings and antique furniture. All the rooms are equipped with a satellite TV, air conditioning, complimentary WiFi and en suite bath or shower room, some have courtyard or garden view and one has a panoramic terrace enjoying lovely sea views to Calabria and the Sicilian coast.

There is the choice of Classic, Superior and Deluxe guest rooms, one, The Ashbee suite, having a wonderful sea view. The suites, all with individual names, are richly decorated and have a number of extra features such as a lounge area, bath and shower. The Family Suite can sleep up to 5 and has its own entrance and private garden. The Spa Suite has steam bath, emotional shower and hydro massage tub.

The Restaurants & Bars

Guests can enjoy a buffet style breakfast and lunch, snacks and drinks throughout the day at the Pool Club bar (open mid June to mid September) under the shade of olive trees and enjoying wonderful sea views across Spisone Bay and Letojanni.

In the evening the 2 Michelin starred fine dining St. George Restaurant by Heinz Beck (extra cost) is open for guests and visitors alike, offering real flavour of the Mediterranean in an elegant dining room with classical English atmosphere or in a beautiful terrace setting with a gorgeous sea view. Classical Sicilian and Mediterranean dishes are offered from a set menu or à la carte. The refined setting encourages formal dress, but jackets and ties are not essential.

The Terrace Bar serves cocktails, fine wines and Champagne whilst the sun sets over the Sicilian coastline and the southern Italian peninsular.

The Facilities

The hotel is approached from the town through a gated entrance leading to a paved courtyard. The reception offers guests hotel and local information and leads to a character lounge area and out to a beautiful terrace with wonderful views to Spisone Bay, Letojanni and to the Italian mainland. Steps lead through the immaculate gardens to the infinity pool with beautiful sea views and terrace with sunbeds, parasols and the adjacent Pool Club bar. The hotel has an open air gym and a shuttle bus service is available to some of the local beaches (extra cost). Parking is available through reception (extra cost, from €50.00 per night).

The Local Area

The Ashbee is situated 150m from Corso Umberto and 700m from the Greek Theatre in the town of Taormina on the north east coast of Sicily. It is also close to the cable car to access the beach in the Bay of Isola Bella situated below the town.

Being set high up on the hillside, the town enjoys dramatic views across the straits of Messina to the Italian mainland and also of Mount Etna. It is a very cosmopolitan town with excellent shops, designer boutiques, restaurants and café bars lining cobbled streets and alleys high above the picturesque beaches below. 

There are several historic attractions such as the famous ancient Greek Theatre which draws artists and tourists from all over the world. The town of Taormina is a truly enchanting part of Sicily with the town being rich in atmosphere and culture with local delicacies and festivals to experience, while the coastline is enveloped by panoramic views and pretty coves, making Taormina a truly must visit destination.

Enjoying panoramic sea views to the Italian mainland, The Ashbee is a beautifully redesigned 20^th century English villa that opened as a hotel in 2011 with 24 elegant guest rooms and suites.

Preserving some of original features, each room is beautifully furnished with antiques and paintings in keeping with the era of the villa, but with modern day comforts.

Situated in the heart of Taormina, guests can explore this diverse historical and cultural town on foot and enjoy the restaurants and bars in the nearby Corso Umberto.

However, the beach can also easily be accessed by hotel shuttle (extra cost) or the cable car from the town to the picturesque bay of Mazzaro.
