The Accommodation

Hotel Mea has merged style, design, materials, furniture and objet d'art from the Aeolian Islands to create a fusion of Western and Arabian cultures.

All the rooms have different décor and have bath and/or shower room, hairdryer, TV, safe, minibar, telephone, air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities, terrace, some overlooking the bay whilst others are quieter overlooking the internal Mediterranean garden with lemon and olive trees.

Classic Room (sleeping 2/3) double/twin bedroom on the first or second floor with a garden view and Moresque furnishings.

Comfort Room (sleeping 2/3) double/twin bedroom on the first or second floor with garden or sea views.

Superior Room (sleeping 2/3) double/twin bedroom on the first or second floor with sea views of the Bay of Marina Lunga.

Suite (sleeping 2/4) spacious double/twin bedroom and living room with a sofa bed and views of the sea or garden. 

The Restaurant & Bar

Chimera restaurant is the ideal setting to experience of the flavours of the Aeolian Islands with a buffet breakfast and for lunch and dinner (extra cost). Please note: the Chimera restuarant closes at the end of October.

The chef reinvents traditional Aeolian and Sicilian dishes with a modern touch, using fresh local products to create healthy choices, accompanied by a selection of Aeolian, Sicilian and Italian wines.

There is a bar and pool bar (open May - September) serving cocktails, drinks and light lunch. 

The Facilities

There is a lovely infinity pool in front of the hotel with a separate hydro massage pool and terrace with lovely sea views furnished with sunbeds and parasols and poolside snack bar.  

The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to the port on arrival/departure (500m, on request, extra cost) and the reception can help with local information, arrange excursions, boat trips and diving.

Lipari town has a selection of bars, restaurants and shops and ferries depart from the port to the other Aeolian islands, Milazzo and Messina on Sicily and Reggio Calabria on mainland Italy. The beach at Canneto is 3.5km away.

The Local Area

From the port of Milazzo in north east Sicily, it is possible to travel to Lipari by hydrofoil (journey time approximately 1 hour). Hotel Mea is located just 400m from the town of Lipari and port.

The island of Lipari is 37.6km², the largest, capital and most popular island in the Aeolian group. The Greeks referred to the island as ‘Meligunis’ meaning ‘sweet’ due to its climate. The island was built up around the Neolithic era and was home to both Greek and Roman civilisations.

The town of Lipari spreads from the foot of the cliffs where the castle lies (once a Greek acropolis, now an important archaeological museum), to the numerous coves situated from the north to the south of the island. The contrasting views over Lipari of the glimmering obsidian rock and the bright whiteness of the pumice stone are almost blinding.

There are a number of shops, restaurants and bars around the port and a Norman church as well as the archaeological museum. Lipari is an ideal base for those looking to explore the other islands.
