The Accommodation

Originally built as a luxury home, Hotel Villa Ducale now has 19 hotel rooms which have just been completely renovated in Italian design combining traditional Sicilian style with vibrant colours giving a contemporary look. There is a choice of room type but all have LCD TV with Sky channels and Pay TV, free WiFi, safe, minibar, independent air conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and luxury toiletries.

Design Deluxe rooms (20m², sleeping 2) double/twin room with en suite bathroom with bath and/or shower, small lounge area in the bedroom, terrace with table and chairs and views over the sea. 
Junior Suites (28m², sleeping up to 3) double bedroom, small lounge area in the bedroom with a sofa bed, en suite shower room, terrace with chairs and table and outstanding sea view. 
Roof Top Junior Suites (34m², sleeping 2) double bedroom with king size or twin beds, small lounge area in the bedroom with sofa or armchairs, en suite bath/shower room, terrace with chairs and table and outstanding sea view. 
Luxury Design Suites (34m², sleeping up to 3) double bedroom, separate living room with a sofa bed, balcony with table and chairs overlooking the Messina straits, sea and mainland Italy's coastline, en suite shower room with shower cubicle and a seated waterfall shower. The rooms are located in an annex across a small road which links the tiny village of Castelmola to Taormina. Ideal for honeymooners or families looking for extra space and comfort.  
Villa 21 (50m², sleeping up to 4) a large elegant luxury apartment with a bedroom, separate living room with 2 sofa beds, en suite shower room with shower cubicle and seated waterfall shower and terrace with table and chairs overlooking the sea, the bay of Naxos and Mount Etna. Ideal for honeymooners or families looking for extra space and comfort.

The Facilities

The attentive, knowledgeable and passionate hands-on owners, Andrea and Rosaria Quartucci, run this charming hillside hideaway overlooking the undulating Sicilian coast.

From dawn till dusk, the terrace is the main hub of Hotel Villa Ducale for guests to relax and soak up the panoramic views of the stunning coast. Here, delicious breakfasts are served including pastries and fresh fruit, mouth-watering lunches offering pastas and salads and in the evening, sunset cocktails and candlelit romantic dinners with traditional Sicilian cuisine at the Villa Ducale Restaurant which enjoys the best view in Taormina (book in advance, tailor made dining experience). The hotel also offers a snack bar, breakfast in your room (extra cost), wine tasting and there are cooking classes available locally (extra cost).

There is a sun terrace with loungers and a small pool with deck surround.

The hotel offers guests a free regular shuttle service to the town centre of Taormina and the famous Greek Theatre. There is a beach shuttle service (extra cost) which includes sunbeds and parasols.

The 24 hour front desk offers concierge services including excursions, room service and laundry service and there is private parking on site at €20 per day (on request).

The Local Area

The Villa Ducale is situated 1.2km walk or 2.4km drive away from the main street of Corso Umberto and the Greek Theatre in the beautiful town of Taormina on the north east coast of Sicily. It is also a 3km walk or 6km drive from the beaches at Taormina Mare that can be accessed by hotel shuttle or a cable car from the town.  

Being set high up on the hillside, the hotel enjoys dramatic views across both the Straits of Messina to the Italian mainland and also of the Bay or Naxos with Mount Etna beyond. It is a very cosmopolitan town with excellent shops, designer boutiques, restaurants and café bars lining cobbled streets and alleys high above the picturesque beaches below. 

There are several historic attractions such as the famous ancient Greek Theatre which draws artists and tourists from all over the world. The town of Taormina is a truly enchanting part of Sicily with the town being rich in atmosphere and culture with local delicacies and festivals to experience, while the coastline is enveloped by panoramic views and pretty coves, making Taormina a truly must visit destination.

Hotel Villa Ducale has stunning views, elegant guest rooms and a relatively close proximity to the centre of Taormina.

In 1990 Rosaria & Andrea Quartucci opened Villa Ducale with the ambition to create a boutique hotel that captured the very best of Taormina and Sicily and recently they have completely renovated the guest rooms. 

All the rooms have wonderful sea views which can also be enjoyed from the panoramic communal terrace and there is a pool for relaxation. 

This hotel is particularly suited to couples looking for a small boutique style hotel with panoramic views.  

There is a free shuttle to the town. It is possible to walk into Taormina but please note that it will involve a steep climb!
