The Accommodation

This white-washed contemporary villa is arranged on three levels with attractive modern décor and furnishings plus wrap round terraces enjoying wonderful sea views.

On the ground floor there is a living room with outside terrace, kitchen, utility room, one double and one twin bedroom both with en suite shower rooms. The first floor has a large lounge/diner and terrace, second well-equipped kitchen, cloakroom, two further bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) both with en suite shower rooms and the second floor has a master bedroom with en suite shower room, small sitting room and panoramic terrace. 

The villa (200m²) is equipped with air conditioning, WiFi, 2 satellite TVs, DVD and CD player, safe, hairdryer, highchair, cot and each kitchen has dishwasher, iron, 3 fridges, freezer, toaster, espresso coffee machine, hob with 6 electric rings, electric oven, microwave, mixer and a good selection of crockery, cutlery, glassware and there is a washing machine in the laundry room.

The Garden & Facilities

The villa has panoramic outside furnished terraces (150m²) on each floor with pergola style shading and access via doors from a number of the rooms. 

There is a lawned garden (2,000m²) with a saltwater swimming pool (12m x 5m, depth 1.50m, open from 01/04 to 30/11) with hydro massage corner and sun deck with sun loungers, parasol and outdoor shower. On the first floor there are gazebos shading a dining table, chairs, sofa and barbecue.

On the ground floor of the villa there is an inside wellness area with sauna and jacuzzi plunge pool.

Available on request is change of linen (€10 per person), domestic help (€12 per hour, minimum 2 hours), small wine cellar, chef (€250 + cost of shopping), welcome buffet (€25 per person), shopping list (€50 + cost of shopping) and boat rental (local charge).

The Local Area

Villa Blumarine is situated just 30m from the sea and rocky beach and 400m from the sandy beach in Marina di Modica which is a small seaside town, between Sampieri and Pozzallo, on the southern tip of Sicily. 

There is a large bay with sandy beach surrounded by sand dunes and there are shops and restaurants in the town about 1.5km from the villa. It is an ideal holiday spot for families, couples and older people. In July and August the quiet resort town comes to life with sports activities on the beach, market stalls on the promenade, live bands and folklore in the Piazetta, as well as numerous bars and discotheques.

For further needs the town and harbour of Pozzallo is 6km away, there is a weekly market on Tuesdays in Scicli 15km, a tennis court 2km away, horse riding 26km, diving (Marzamemi) 40km and golf at Donnafugata 45km.

Marina di Modica is also a good base for exploring the local area including the 13km long limestone canyon Cava d`Ispica 22km between Ispica and Modica which is a natural reserve with hazelnut, pomegranate and citrus trees, along with fragrant shrubs and oleander plus impressive pre-historic tombs and Christian catacombs. 

Also visit the baroque towns of Modica, Scicli, Ragusa Ibla and Noto, plus Marina di Ragusa and places that feature in the Inspector Montalbano TV series such as Sampieri, Punta Secca and the Donnafugata Castle.

Modica itself is 20km away and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sicily. Modica consists of two town centres, the older perched on the rocky top of the southern Iblei hill, the other rebuilt further downhill after the 1693 earthquake with imposing and conspicuous monuments such as the Cathedral of St George and the Church of St Peter.

Modica is a popular Sicilian town renowned for its diverse history, Baroque-style buildings and chocolate! There is also the Museo Civico and a selection of cafe bars, restaurants and shops including some which sell a range of the dark, rich chocolate for which the town is renowned. Over the Easter visitors can enjoy several chocolate themed events such as chocolate massages and sculpture making.

Villa Blumarine is a stunning white-washed beach style villa right on the sea front in the small seaside town of Marina di Modica on the southern tip of Sicily and well placed to explore the interesting local area including some UNESCO Baroque towns.

The villa will suit both large families or a group with 5 en suite bedrooms, extensive outside terraces all with sea view and well-equipped kitchens for self catering, with the option of a chef and maid on request (extra cost). 

The interiors have bleached wood effect floors and beamed ceilings, modern art and the furnished terraces are ideal to relax and enjoy the sea views. 

The pool and the gardens leading to the seafront are a real feature. Car hire essential for supplies and sightseeing.
