The Accommodation

The recent renovation and restyling of this 80m² villa was carried out by a top interior designer using local handicraft materials to create minimalist, rustic chic décor inspired by the colours of the island, giving an authentic feel to the house. 

There are two double bedrooms (one of which is accessed from outside), two shower rooms, open plan living/kitchen area with sofas, table and chairs and large picture windows opening onto a terrace with amazing sea views.

The villa is equipped with all mod cons including air conditioning, WiFi, satellite TV, stereo system, safe, cot and highchair. The kitchen area has 4 ring electric hob, microwave, fridge freezer, toaster, espresso coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, iron, hairdryer and there is a barbecue outside. 

The Garden & Facilities

The 500m² gardens include a wonderful furnished patio with pergola, sun terrace with a saltwater plunge pool (heated on request to 26°C, extra cost €200 per week, open 01/03 - 30/11, 2m x 3m depth min 0.3m - max 0.6m), external shower and pathways leading to the beach and sea.

A maid service is available for €12 per hour (minimum 2 hours).

The Local Area

The villa is situated on the sea front in Santa Maria del Focallo, a small seaside town officially part of the city of Ispica, but 14km away. It was named after an old church that was destroyed in the earthquake in 1693 and like all of Sicily, has Greek origins. 

Today the town is a sleepy community with with a few shops, restaurants and beautiful beaches, 7km of golden sand from the Tavole del Re to Spiaggia di Ciriga with blue band beaches and onto Porto Ulisse with excellent beach restaurant. The clear water and pristine beaches backed by natural vegetation were designated as Blue Flag for their environmental cleanliness. 

For further needs there is a weekly market on Saturdays in Modica (34km), golf at Floridia (60km), tennis at Ispica (15km), horse riding (14km) and diving at Marzamemi (18km) and Pozzallo Harbour (15km).

Ispica is a hillside town standing 170m above sea level and one of several delightful Baroque towns in this area along with Noto, Ragusa, Modica and Scicli. The town hosts examples of Baroque architecture such as Vincenzo Sinatra's Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, Annunziata Church, Carmine monastery and St. Barthelemy cathedral. 

The ancient town of Ispica was destroyed by an earthquake in 1693 and rebuilt on its present site but visitors can trace its origins back 4,000 years at Parco Archeologico Forza and Cava d’Ispica with cave dwellings and tombs carved into the 13km gorge.

The town is 10km from the coast with some of the islands loveliest sandy beaches including Pozzallo (high speed ferry service to Malta 90 minutes), Santa Maria del Focallo, Marina di Modica and Sampieri and also in Vendicari Nature Reserve (23km).
