The Accommodation

Built in traditional Sicilian style with exposed stone walls inside and out and some beamed ceilings, Villa Corte Dorata is arranged on three levels offering a contemporary conception of space with modern comforts. 

On the ground floor there is a large living room with kitchen and dining area, 1 double bedroom with shower room and a laundry room. The first floor has a sitting room with bar, 1 double bedroom with shower room and terrace and the second floor has 2 double bedrooms both with bathrooms.

The interior is tastefully furnished and equipped with all modern comforts including air conditioning, WiFi, satellite TV, stereo system and CD and DVD players. The kitchen has fridge, freezer, toaster, espresso coffee machine, hob with 5 gas burners, electric oven, microwave and dishwasher. 

For families with young children, there is a cot and highchair. There are mosquito deterrents and a hairdryer is supplied. The laundry room has a washing machine and iron. 

The outside terraces have deckchairs, table and chairs for al fresco dining along with a barbecue.  Additionally, there is a wellness area with sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool/jacuzzi and multi-sensory shower.

The Garden & Facilities

Outside there is a lovely al fresco terrace, with table, chairs and barbecue, enjoying wonderful views over the town of Scicli to the sea beyond. 

On a lower terrace is a swimming pool (open 01/04 - 31/10 size 12m x 6m depth 1.50m) with lawn surround with sun loungers, parasol and external shower. There is also an all-weather surface tennis court.

Additional services at the villa include babysitting (€10 per hour), maid service (€15 per hour, minimum 4 hours), cook (€25 per person + receipt, minimum of €150), shopping list (€40 + receipts), all on request. 

Available locally are beauty treatments, guided tours, bike rental, boat rental, tastings of local products and wine tasting (on request, all extra cost).   

The Local Area

Villa Corte Dorata is surrounded by quiet, picturesque countryside with typical carob and olive trees and dry-stone walls. It is a perfect base for exploring the UNESCO baroque town of Scicli and the other towns of the Val di Noto including Modica (12km), Ragusa (28km) and Noto (47km).

There are also beautiful beaches to explore at Donnalucata (7km), Sampieri (9km), Marina di Ragusa (15km) and Punta Secca (24km). There is golf available at Donnafugata (33km), horse riding (10km), diving at Marzamemi (53km) and Pozzallo harbour (18km). 

The villa is 2km from the centre of Scicli, an ancient town which grew up around two valleys divided by steep ridges and emerging onto a wider valley. It is now full of beautiful restored Baroque churches and palazzi, along with shops and restaurants. Scicli's showpieces are Palazzo Beneventano and Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo, well worth visiting. Via Penna, an elegant pedestrianised street lined with Baroque palaces and churches, has cafe bars with tables outside where you can watch the world go by!  There is a weekly market on Tuesdays.

The villa that has been recently refurbished has wonderful views and overlooks the well-kept gardens framed by characteristic dry stone walls that houses the beautiful swimming pool and large sunny terraces perfect for living outdoors most of the day and evening.

Guests also have the benefit of a wellness area with sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi and emotional shower.

Car hire essential for exploring the local area.  Early booking advised.
