Taormina was a wonderful town to be in on our first visit to Sicily. Hotel Monte Tauro was centrally situated to enjoy all the charms of the town. Stunning views from our hotel room. Your representative Gianna Vargetto, was most attentive with her text communications and ready answers to our questions. Certain alterations to the layout of the breakfast room during our stay, added a better feel to the room, enhancing the view. Super pool and pool bar staff. Reception made us very welcome.

Excellent location, central for everything. lovely room; balcony with amazing views. Very nice pool also. Driving down the steps to the hotel can be a bit daunting, but reception will send someone up to do it for you. Mamma Mia grocery store round the corner makes up excellent sandwiches.

Built in the 1970’s, the hotel has had dramatic refurbishments to create a stylish and modern interior with an ideal location close to the cosmopolitan Corso Umberto and Greek theatre in this beautiful town.

Arranged on 9 floors accessed by a panoramic glass lift leading down from the reception, there are 98 rooms decorated and furnished in a modern style and overlooking the marvellous panorama of the Taormina coast.  

Each room is equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi, radio, minibar, safe, en suite bath or shower room and a balcony to enjoy the dramatic views. 

Double Room(20 m ² , sleeping 2) double/twin bedroom with a small furnished balcony and views over the sea and gardens or the sea and Etna (supplement).

Double Premium Balcony Room(25 m ² , sleeping up to 3) double/twin room with room for an extra bed, larger furnished balcony and views over the sea and gardens or the sea and Etna (supplement).

Junior Suite Terrace (42 m ² , sleeping up to 4) double/twin bedroom and living room with sofa bed and the possibility of an extra bed, furnished terrace and views over the sea and gardens or the sea and Etna (supplement).

Please note: the hotel is only accessible via a steep hill and is therefore not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

The panoramic restaurant with views across the bay offers a hot and cold buffet breakfast with a wide variety of typical regional products such as fresh fruit, pastries, cold cuts and cheeses, honey produced in the Etna area, organic and dietetic jam and many other Sicilian delicacies. Those with Coeliac diets are also catered for.

There is a lounge bar serving drinks throughout the evening and also a pool bar and grill for lunch and drinks by the pool.

The hotel is approached down a steep hill from the town and there is parking available nearby (extra cost). There is a 24 hour reception situated in an attractive foyer offering guests hotel and local information. A panoramic glass lift takes guests down to the outdoor swimming pool (open May to October) with a hydro massage corner and terrace with sunbeds, parasols and towels provided.

Guests at the Monte Tauro have use of a daily shuttle service (mid May – end October) to the local beach, where sunbeds and parasols are available (extra cost).  Excursions including boat trips and tours of Mount Etna can be arranged and there is a golf course 20km away.

Hotel Monte Tauro is situated just 500m away from the main street of Corso Umberto and the Greek Theatre in the beautiful town of Taormina on the north east coast of Sicily. It is also just 4km from the beaches at Taormina Mare that can be accessed by hotel shuttle or a cable car from the town.  

Being set high up on the hillside, the town enjoys dramatic views across the Bay of Naxos to Mount Etna beyond. It is a very cosmopolitan town with excellent shops, designer boutiques, restaurants and café bars lining cobbled streets and alleys high above the picturesque beaches below. 

There are several historic attractions such as the famous ancient Greek Theatre which draws artists and tourists from all over the world. The town of Taormina is a truly enchanting part of Sicily with the town being rich in atmosphere and culture with local delicacies and festivals to experience, while the coastline is enveloped by panoramic views and pretty coves, making Taormina a truly must visit destination.
